Terumo CVS becomes the exclusive North American Distributor for Luna’s current EDAC™ Quantifier, a micro emboli detection device.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, May 23, 2011 — Terumo Cardiovascular Systems (Terumo CVS) announced today that is has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Luna Innovations Incorporated (NASDAQ: LUNA). Under the terms of the agreement, Terumo CVS becomes the exclusive North American Distributor for Luna's current EDAC™ Quantifier, a micro emboli detection device.

Terumo CVS, the world's leading supplier of products for cardiopulmonary bypass, and Luna Innovations have shared a marketing alliance since 2007, performing market research and jointly marketing the EDAC system. This new distribution agreement transitions the marketing, sales and distribution of the EDAC system in North America to Terumo CVS.

Terumo CVS' established North American sales, distribution and clinical support network is well equipped to bring this innovative medical device to their customers who care about emboli reduction and who are ready to embrace the sophisticated technology to help improve their patient outcomes.

"This agreement allows Terumo CVS to bring additional sophisticated technology to our existing perfusion customers and continue Terumo's role in optimizing patient outcomes,” says Michael Rebuldela, General Manager, Perfusion Products, Terumo CVS.

Luna's EDAC Quantifier is the only full-featured, stand-alone emboli detection system on the market to receive clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This cardiopulmonary instrument is an innovative medical device that uses quantitative ultrasound technology to non-invasively detect gaseous emboli in up to three extracorporeal bypass circuit lines. It provides repeatable, accurate measurement of gaseous emboli previously not quantifiable by the surgical team.
